Vauxhall Motors returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, coming from behind to beat Stalybridge Celtic 2-1 away from home.
It had been a testing period of time for Danny Holmes’ Motors as they lost 3-0 against Mossley, last time out, before top striker Lewis Buckley made his dual registration move to Lower Breck.
The experienced Craig Curran started the match up top with Will Dunne and Conor Harwood to his side as defender Lewis Whillingham made his debut.
The hosts placed themselves into the lead ten minutes into the game as Cole Lonsdale fired a free kick into the top left corner.
However, Vauxhall’s Joe Brandon brought his side level soon afterwards, getting the final touch to a Harwood cross at the back post.
Holmes’ men were looking lively since getting the equaliser and Curran nearly had his first goal for the club but for an unbelievable save by Luke Hewitson.
On the stroke of half time, the goal to put the visitors into the lead would come as defender Bobby Beaumont headed home from an Adam Hughes cross.
It was a competitive start to the second half but there was little worth taking note of aside from a few changes being made, as Motors forward George Nugent pulled his effort wide.
