Motors victorious overseas

Vauxhall Motors returned victorious from a freezing cold Isle Of Man, consolidating their place at the top of the NWCFL Premier Table.
Two goals from Michael Burkey and a strike from Aaron Dawson saw the game finish 3-0 to The Motormen, on what was the club’s first ‘international’ trip.
This followed on from their brilliant 3-0 away victory at Wythenshawe Town in midweek.
It was a balanced start to the game with the hosts playing some good forward passes before ringing the crossbar with a ferociously hit free kick.
However, Winger Michael Burkey made his trickery count for the league leaders and netted after skilfully beating two men before slotting the ball past keeper James Rice on the stroke of the tenth minute.
An audacious effort from great range by FC IOM’S Furo Davies, who was growing frustrated at his lack of opportunities, was fired over the bar.
The scoreline would soon be doubled, again by Burkey, who slotted cooly into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
It was great work by the front line to bring the ball into the threatening area, a few minutes into the second half.
Sealing the game off, Midfielder, Aaron Dawson made it three as he struck past Rice with his left foot.
With Burkey continuing to provide a threat, a dangerous tackle on him brought a stop in play before he was subbed off.
The full time whistle soon sounded out, bringing to an end a fantastic performance by the visitors who were in cruise control after Burkey’s first.
Mick McGraa’s side will now turn their attention to another away game, as they take on Ashton Athletic next Saturday.
