Vauxhall Motors Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Jake Kirby following a 7-day approach to Nantwich Town.
Kirby, aged 29 from Liverpool, started his career at Tranmere Rovers in the youth setup before signing his first professional deal in 2012 as an 18-year-old. It was here when he met Danny Holmes, where they featured together between 2012 and 2015.
Kirby stayed at Rovers for 6 years before making a move to Stockport County in the Vanarama National League for the 2018-19 season, where he played 42 games in one season – scoring 8 goals from midfield.
He stepped away from professional football in 2019 due to injuries over the three years prior to his retirement. However, in 2023, he made a return to playing as he signed for Nantwich Town, where he has featured 16 times this season.
He links back up with Danny Holmes for the first time since 2015, and the Motors boss was delighted to bring in Kirby to his side.
“I’m delighted with the signing of Jake. It’s a statement with what type of player we want to bring to the club, and we’ve had to be patient. He has huge quality and will drive standards within our group as we look to push forward. I’m over the moon to get someone of this calibre. He’s a top lad and a fantastic player. I’ve been lucky enough to play with him & I’m excited now to manage him moving forward.”
Jake is eligible to feature in Saturday’s fixture against Runcorn Linnets at the VanEupen Arena. Welcome to Vauxhall Motors FC, Jake!
