Vauxhall Motors Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper, Jack Atkinson, from City of Liverpool.
The 23-year-old joins the club with a wealth of experience at this level of football.
Atkinson started his career by progressing through the youth ranks at Liverpool, Everton and Shrewsbury Town before joining Wolves and playing in their Under 21’s team for the 2018/19 season.
He then took the step into open age football, signing for Bangor City in the League of Wales.
After COVID, he joined Prestatyn, before getting his move to join Andy Welsh at Bury AFC. He won the North West Counties First Division North in his first season at the Shakers, meaning promotion to the Premier Division. It was in this time where Motors fans may know the goalkeeper, playing in games against Vauxhalls in our fiercely contested league matches.
He then took the step up to Hyde United, before re-joining Bury as they moved back to Gigg Lane at the beginning of this season.
The Welsh shot stopper joined fellow Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One West side City of Liverpool in October, where his memorable game was the Isuzu FA Trophy game at home to Hartlepool United, where Atkinson made multiple saves to keep the Purps in the tie.
After a dual registration at Burscough, including a trip to the Isle of Man last week, Jack arrives at the VanEupen Arena and will be eligible to play in Saturday’s game at home to Chasetown.
Manager, Danny Holmes, expressed his delight to bring the Welshman to the club. “We’re buzzing with the signing of Jack. He’s a great character, and one that we feel that we can help to develop and improve. We’re excited to have Jack on board with us, and Vauxhalls fans can expect to see a wealth of new signings coming through the door in January.”
Atkinson quoted, “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity of stepping up and playing for a club with a great set up and a solid foundation. I hope my past experiences can really push us over the second half of the season. I can’t wait to get started!”.
Welcome to Vauxhall Motors FC, Jack!
