Mick McGraa’s Motors return to action on Tuesday night as they face West Didsbury and Chorlton at The VanEupen Arena.
The Motormen have fantastically started their league campaign, with three wins from three and they’ll be hoping to continue this run.
Dontai Gabidon is the visitor’s top goalscorer, with three goals from five appearances. However, there are a couple of players not too far behind him with two goals as Benjamin Elliott and Curtis Miller have both found the net on two occasions.
Gabidon is a midfielder, thus it will be interesting to see who wins the midfield battle in midweek as four of his five goals have been scored in the league.
West Didsbury and Chorlton were crowned Division One South winners at the end of the 2021-22 campaign and are managed by Chris Rowley. Their owner is Steve Eckersley.
The club was founded in 1908, its initial name being Christ Church AFC. However, they were accepted into the NWCFL as recently as 2012 after entering the FA Vase the year previously.
The visitor’s home ground is Brookburn Road in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, which has a capacity of 1,200. West’s name changed in 2003 to reflect their stadium move in 1997 from Christie Playing Fields.
West’s home colours are white and black. However, they will be playing in pink and blue on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the 2020-21 season an independent supporters club, Union 1908, was formed by the club’s supporters to expand the club’s fanbase, along with supporting local causes in the South Manchester area.
The club’s fans have been noted for their creative and humorous chants, often singing songs about hummus, quinoa, vegetarianism, Bird’s Eye Potato Waffles, and their love of Krombacher which is an alcoholic beverage.
West Didsbury and Chorlton FC’s last three honours include winning the NWCFL Division One South in 2022 as they were previously the Manchester league Division One Winners in 2011 and the NWCFL Division One Cup Winners in 2014.
All support for Mick McGraa’s side is appreciated, thus we look forward to seeing you at The VanEupen Arena on Tuesday evening!
