Motors look to build on positive start at Padiham

Mick McGraa’s side, following their away win at Litherland Remyca in midweek, are back in action this Saturday afternoon as they travel to Padiham.

The Blues, who are managed by Michael Morrison, are currently placed 11th in the NWCFL Premier table and have won three of their opening eight fixtures with two league victories coming in their last three outings as they also won a FA Vase tie.

Padiham were formed in 1878 and are chaired by Shaun Astin.

The NWCFL website describes how significant the club were in their early stages ‘It might be hard to imagine today but in the immediate years following the establishment of the club the `Caldersiders` as they were then known were considered one of Lancashire`s soccer pioneers and one of the better Club sides in England. This is backed up when you look at Padiham’s results from their early history as they beat Burnley four times with a whopping scoreline’.

Their ground, the Ruby Civil Arena, has a capacity of 1,688 with the highest modern recorded attendance here being 712 as they hosted Bury AFC. The average attendance at this ground this campaign is 259.

The Storks finished 13th last season and their top goalscorer is Joel Brownhill, a man who has netted seven times in his eight appearances this campaign.

The club’s last three honours include winning the NWCL Premier in 2013, NHS Bird Cup in 2011 and came runners up in the NWCL Division One in 2009.

It has been 11 games since Padiham’s last goalless draw; thus you can expect goals after Motors’ goalless draw last weekend at The VanEupen Arena Longridge were the visitors that day.

TICKET PRICES: £6 adults, £3 concessions. Children, who are accompanied, get in for free.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend at Padiham, all support for McGraa’s men is appreciated!
