After Motors’ winning streak was brought to an end by Longridge on Saturday afternoon their form returned with a 3-1 win away to Litherland Remyca on Wednesday night.
The first shot of the game came from Remyca as they made a run through midfield but Lee Hughes’ effort failed to test keeper McClenaghan.
Jamie Eaton found himself in space to shoot shortly after for the visitors, just outside the box, but the effort was fired well over the bar.
A well worked move down Remy’s left followed as James Hammill passed the ball into the path of Kieran Halligan but his shot was fired over the bar.
It was a slow start to the game in terms of great opportunities created but a brilliant chance for Mick McGraa’s side came about when a ball was crossed into the head of Lewis Buckley. The header was well wide of the target.
Motors wouldn’t have to worry about getting themselves in the lead for too long as Sean Moscrop netted with a powerful strike that found the corner of Jack Reynold’s net.
The Remy had a few decent opportunities to level the scoreline but failed to test the opposing keeper too much.
However, they would level the game up when good work from outside the area brought the ball into the path of Luke Denson who slotted the ball well into the bottom corner just before the whistle blew for half time.
Buckley put his side back in the lead under pressure from the left side of Remyca’s defence, his effort was fired into the same place as Denson’s earlier strike for the hosts.
Buckley’s header from a Michael Burkey corner was defended brilliantly by the hosts as they cleared the ball on the line.
The ball fell well to Denson on the edge of the box but his effort was fired well wide of the post before Burkey forced Reynolds into making a good save at the other end of the pitch.
Buckley was in an excellent position to put McGraa’s side in the lead by two goals but his effort was fired straight at the keeper who dived low.
Motors two goal lead did eventually come when Buckley met a superb cross by Jordan Deer at the near post before Haydn Cooper was replaced by Ben Holmes.
