Vauxhall Motors extend their winning run to 6, beating Winsford United 3-2 at home. Goals from Lewis Buckley, Bobbie McDonnell and Michael Burkey secured a late comeback win. It was a bright start from both teams, as they looked to pile pressure onto each other. However, it was Vauxhall and Bobbie McDonnell with the best chance early on. Lewis Buckley drove through midfield who picked out McDonnell but could only fire over the bar. The Motors began to create more chances, Buckley involved again by winning a free kick on the edge of the box.
Deer stepped up to strike the ball, but the wall done the job. A mistake by the home keeper saw Winsford take the lead. Eastham came to clear a long ball with some hesitation. He headed it away, only as far as Samuel Marshell who walked past
Drummond with some fancy footwork to find Hatton in the box for 1-0. Winsford increased the pressure since the goal. The Motors lost the ball cheaply in midfield, which Winsford used to break. Hatton again found space in the box, he used the defender to slot home his second of the night.
The visitors came at the Motors again, Exell saw Eastham of his line and tried his luck from half
way. Narrowly wide from the Winsford player.
Vauxhall came out with a half time substitute, Sean Moscrop replaced captain Ben Holmes.
The motors start the second half brightly as they look to redo the first half damage. Smith
testing Reid and a shot from McDonnell going wide.
Winsford’s Ben Harrison took a nock, which he manages to shake off before being replaced by
Jacobsen-Murphy.
The Motors were searching a way to get back into the game. After a penalty shout for a push on
Jordan Deer, Vauxhall finally make the pressure count. Smith finds space on the back post, his
miss hit shot falls to Lewis Buckley to tap home. 2-1 with just over 20 minutes to play.
Winsford went on to make two more changes, McMahon and Oseni came on for goal scorer
Hatton and Coughlan.
The Motors later made a second changed, Drummond making way for Eaton. Smith did brilliantly to win the ball for Vauxhall on half way. He got his head up to switch the ball to the right side. The ball fell to Bobbie McDonnell who brought it under control to lob Reid in the visitors goal.
McDonnell continued to star as a deflected shot worried the keeper, but it goes wide. All the pressure pays of for the Motors, deep into added time Burkey gets the winner on his 100th appearance. He drives down the left into the box, looked to be going on the outside but cuts it in to curl it into the far corner past Reid in goal. Vauxhall complete the comeback.
