Motors to strong for Town

ALSAGER TOWN  1,  VAUXHALL MOTORS  2.

Vauxhall Motors completed a perfect Bank Holiday weekend by securing their second away success in three days at Alsager on Monday, the six points gained lifting the Motormen up to fifth place in the Hallmark Security League table.

Motors got off to a superb start, netting their first goal following a good build up through Ben Holmes, who fired home from twelve yards.  The visitors continued to pepper the home goal before extending their lead on 25 minutes.  Another excellent approach play down the left ended with Holmes firing home his second of the day.

Without ever suggesting a home comeback, Alsager suddenly pulled a goal back out of nothing on 37 minutes when the visitors defence was all at sea enabling Dom Smith to easily round the keeper and convert into an empty net.  For a few minutes, the hosts looked a potential danger but this soon evaporated and Motors regained the ascendency.

Early in the second half, Holmes struck a free kick that hit the bar with the home keeper rooted to the spot, before both Damase Kiwanda and Holmes went close to adding to the score only for the keeper to keep out the first effort while Holmes effort went just over the top, but the visitors were not troubled and coasted to a far more comfortable victory than the scoreline suggets.

Motors are away at Longridge Town this Saturday in the Buildbase F A Vase and their next home game is a week on Saturday (8th September) to Eccleshall.

Vauxhall:  Lavelle, Quinn, Drummond, Carlin, Mitchell, Exell, Maldon, Cross, Holmes, Kiwanda, McColl.  Subs: Breen, Kewn, Lea (McColl), Kirkham, Murphy.
