Vauxhall Motors got back to winning ways as a dominant performance at home to Lower Breck resulted in a 6-1 scoreline, on Saturday afternoon.

Mick McGraa’s side had failed to register a win in their previous two outings, losing 2-0 away at Congleton last weekend.

Adding to the side, with McGraa stating the need for fresh legs, the signing of Jake Parker from Daisy Hill FC was announced the day before the game.

The Motormen started the afternoon in a controlled manner, pinning the visitors back into their half.

They would get close when Michael Burkey troubled the keeper before Lewis Buckley’s rebounded header was fired just wide.

Breck would get close too, moments later, as an attempt went just over the bar but the efforts of the title chasers were awarded when Captain Ben Holmes slotted the first with a great strike.

The second half would bring more goals, six in total.

Marcus James started this with a header to double The Motormen’s lead.

Bobbie McDonnell headed the third and the pacey forward cut inside from a pass by Haydn Cooper to extend the scoreline to four.

Gary Moore’s visitors got one back after Ciaran O’Loughlin made a couple of saves but failed to reach Max O’Connell’s shot.

However, that wouldn’t put a stop to the fun as new recruit Jake Parker found the net on his debut with a casual, but great, finish with a few minutes left to play.

Holmes scored from twelve yards out in added time as The Motors continued to run riot, Parker nearly getting his second as his header was cleared off the line.

Boss, Mick McGraa, hailed his new signing, Jake Parker’s performance, as well as describing Haydn Cooper as the ‘best player on the pitch’, as he returned from time away from the club.

Vauxhall Motors are back in action on Monday night as they travel to Winsford United.

The win against Lower Breck keeps them second in the NWCFL Premier Table, they’re three points behind Avro but have a game in hand.
