Following Vauxhall Motors’ 5-0 victory against Burscough on Bank Holiday Monday, Mick McGraa’s side are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they face Longridge Town at The VanEupen Arena.
The visitors, who are managed by former Preston man Lee Ashcroft have had a tricky start to the season as they have won just two out of their six games.
The first game won was at home to Congleton Town, with the next being away at Winsford United and both games finished 2-1.
Their last outing saw Avro beat them at home. One of their greatest early results came in the FA Vase when they beat Yorkshire Amateur 6-1 to progress into the second round.
Ashcroft made more than 90 appearances for Preston in his playing career and was part of the team that finished runners up in the Football League fourth division in 1987 before starting his managerial career with Kendal Town and Northwich Victoria.
Since his time at The Ridge, the club have won the West Lancashire League in 2018 and the NWCL Division One the following year.
Ashcroft’s outfit don’t have a particular top goalscorer in league action this campaign. However, many players such as Newton and Arrowsmith have been on the scoresheet with The Reds scoring 6 and conceding 10.
Jim Parker is the chairman of Longridge, the Preston based side being formed in 1996 and they currently play their home games at The Recycling Lives Ground on Inglewhite Road.
It has been 35 games since the club’s last goalless draw and 17 games since they kept their last clean sheet thus you can expect some goals.
The Ridge’s average attendance across their four home games this campaign is 200, we look forward to seeing you down at The VanEupen Arena on Saturday as all support is appreciated!
