Hamm bags winner as Crump saves the day

Alsager Town  0 v 1 Vauxhall Motors

An unchanged Motors starting line up found Staffordshire hosts Alsager a tough nut to crack but a 35th minute strike from in-form striker Kieran Hamm proved to be enough to see Mick McGraa’s side maintain their 100% NWCL record after five fixtures.

Motors had the better of the first half but after the break, the contest was very evenly matched.  Early on Noah Robson sawan effort well saved by the home keeper before both he and Shaun Weaver went close.  The only goal of the contest came shortly after when Robson capitalised on a defensive error to square the ball for Hamm to fire home.

The scorer almost added to his tally just before the interval but the Alsgaer custodian denied him with a great save.  At the start of the second half both keepers had to be at their best to keep out attempts on goal before Stuart Jones headed just wide.

The Motormen had a let off on 63 minutes when a home goal was disallowed. Just one minute later, the hosts were reduced to ten men when Kyle Riley was dismissed for dissent. Despite this, Alsager almost snatched an equaliser ten minutes from time, but again Ryan Crump in the Motors goal saved the day to preserve their 100% league record from five games.
